My pil have them as mil is german. They are called Brette. They are just small wooden boards, which you put on the table and use to cut things up. For example, at breakfast time, you can cut your bread up on them, instead of using a plate (which I suppose can scratch)
Lidtl are selling them at 5.99 for 6, which hang up.

Overrun is it Lidl you get them from? They sound really cool, I think we would use them a lot tbh. Anyone who knows me on here live near a Lidl?

Overrun · 15/02/2007 21:00

Lidl, thank you, I knew I had got it wrong, and bless you for posting, I was beginning to feel I am a bit of a thread killer tonight.

Snowball, thanks so much, but I think if they are wood they could easily be a bit too heavy to make posting them worth while. That is very kind of you to offer, though, thanks.

Overrun I have noticed you all over the site today making wonderful posts

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 21:20

I don't think there is one here you know

When I said "someone I know" I meant someone who might visit me soon, really

of course if anyone wants to drive down and see my famous blue tree they are welcome

moondog · 15/02/2007 21:22

Why hello F&Z!
Long time gone eh????

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 21:26

Wotcha moondog

Yes, I was away ages. Do I get a prize?

moondog · 15/02/2007 21:27

You were missed....

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 21:29

Aw shucks

Overrun · 15/02/2007 21:34

Advert break, yes I have been rather prolific today
There quite light, but made out of wood, and being six of them I think they would weigh a fair bit.

I will drop hints to people. I never knew such a thing existed but now you have said it, they would be incredibly useful for lots of things. I think. Wouldn't they?

Overrun · 15/02/2007 21:56

yes they are great, good for cutting bread, cheese, fruit etc. i think they look attractive on the table as well

SNOWBall4girlz · 15/02/2007 21:58

yes think I will be buying some for me anyway tomorrow

what colour is the famous tree atm ?
nice to have you back

FrannyandZooey · 16/02/2007 08:37

Thanks snowball, it is still a "delightful" blue / green colour. I was hoping after the Christmas lights they would go with the seasonal thing and hang some hearts on it for Valentines Day, but no. Maybe they will make more effort for Easter?

NotQuiteCockney · 16/02/2007 08:38

Oh, yes, the mythical tree.

I might make it to Lidl soon. We do have one nearby.

FrannyandZooey · 16/02/2007 08:42

If you go, can you get me some?

And don't try pretending I photoshopped the tree. It is real and your boys will back me up on this.

NotQuiteCockney · 16/02/2007 08:44

Sure, if I make it, I'll get you some - and tell you I've got them.

I don't think my boys noticed the tree ... what with it being imaginary and all ...

DH still twitchy about Father Ted etc. Although he's now threatening to stop reading MN, which would be (mostly) nice.

FrannyandZooey · 16/02/2007 08:46

But then he wouldn't get to see you being Dr Lurve all the time

NotQuiteCockney · 16/02/2007 08:49

True true.

It probably is broken of me to bitch on here about him suggesting frozen yogurt as a treat, rather than trotting out and buying me ice cream. I probably should bitch to him instead, it would save time.

sunnywong · 16/02/2007 08:50

is that not a bread board?

FrannyandZooey · 16/02/2007 08:57

Suzy I think it is like a mini, individual bread board. Are you not feeling the love?
