i cant see why anyuone would want one - the corner seat is a complete waste of space!

BadHair · 15/06/2004 18:58

My folks used to have a corner sofa unit, complete with coffee table and bookshelves in the corner bit, and it was the biggest waste of space I've ever known. Not only was it completely inflexible in terms of room layout (you can put individual settees wherever you want them but your corner sofa has to stay put), but it was a nightmare move and clean behind.
Having said that, if you know you're never going to want to change its position then it does give a HUGE amount of seating space.

The minute I have time I am going to buy one. Good friends of mine who have a smallish place but do lots of entertaining have one and love it. Theirs has nice chunky arms and low back that you can sit on.

We definitely want one as our living room is quite big and a corner sofa would actually free up a lot of room! (weird as that may sound!) we've always liked the look of the Ektorp corner sofa at ikea, but have reservations as friends have told us that ikea are great but in terms of long lastedness (sorry! made up word! ) not so good... i'm on the look out for one with removable covers too!!!...

If you have a Cargo Homeshops near you, they used to do one and it was available with removable covers.

We have one and it's brilliant, absolutely masses of seating and yes, it does free up space but as Badhair says we can't really put it anywhere else although I can't imagine that we'd ever want to given the layout of our room. It's no problem to clean behind because it's actually made in three parts which sort of hook together so in theory we could also hook together the 2 end parts and have a normal sofa and a wierd shaped armchair if we wanted.

I fell in love with one in tthe Sofabed Shop , but it was too huge to fit in our tiny flat! . I liked it because it had storage space underneath, and the sleeping area was massive. I also feel safe sitting in corners... It was nearly £900 though, and they've got one virtually the same in Ikea for £500ish. So I'm glad we didn't get it!

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 10:23

the only thing I would think would be a problem is that you cant change the layout of your room can you?

fairydust · 16/06/2004 12:38

the one we've been looking at comes in seperate pieces so it can be changed to suit.this one

we have a large living room (25ft by 13ft) but even though it's large there does't seem much space with our 3 and a 2sofa

Ikea have some nice ones. We have a big 4 seater from them and it withstanding the combined effort of four children and 2 adults attacking it ona daily basis. More sturdy than MFI were.
