Whoa! God that's scary!!

Oh my god. Don't even think about it .

Tissy · 15/06/2004 10:21

the antiseptic towelettes reminded me of those little wipes you get on a plane for sticky fingers- wouldn't be much use!! I'm surprised the whole lot isn't packed into a handy backpack, which could be used as a changing bag after the birth.

this is rather sad, and trades on peoples' insecurities

LIZS · 15/06/2004 10:50

eugh, why ?

Agree with Tissy about exploiting people's sense of vulnerability - very distasteful.

webmum · 15/06/2004 11:06

must agree wit Tissya nd Lizs,

besides most of te items, you would ahve at home anywya (maternity pads? baby blanket?) and no one who's sane whould think of clamoing the umbilical cord without waiting for an ambulance to arrive.....

Hulababy · 15/06/2004 11:08

Seems a good way for someone to make money out of women who may already be feeling nervous, vunerable and a bit scared.

mummytosteven · 15/06/2004 11:14

What a shame that there is yet another "useful" product to take advantage of women's anxieties. If the baby was coming that quickly surely you/support person would be far too panicky to be faffing around with the emergency birth kit anyway... and trying to cut the cord yourself goes against all the advice the books give on emergency birth. The girl in the bed next to me at the maternity hospital had an unplanned home birth (her fifth baby) and there wasn't time to find clean towels never mind anything else.

toddlerbob · 15/06/2004 20:00

Thank goodness you all agree with me that's it's just plain weird.

I've got a latex allergy so that little item in the kit would have killed me off sharpish!

coppertop · 15/06/2004 20:14

[shocked] This is just preying on women's fears. The cord clamp is downright irresponsible. What if someone who didn't know any better assumed that because the clamp was in the box they were supposed to use it??

coppertop · 15/06/2004 20:15

That of course should have been a !
