Smart/stylish kettle?

Can anyone recommend a good, stylish electric kettl - would prefer a tall model, cordless and maybe in stainless steel? We have to replace our Jasper Morrison one which was v expensive and DH is threatening to choose one if I don't find something decent which is reliable. (We had lots of probs with the current one like the lid flipping up mid boil and it refusing to finish boiling). Don't mind spending a bit but want sth which works, will last a while and look good. Any ideas please?

We have this Dualit kettle which we are really pleased with.

Nice kettle, but maybe bit space age/modern for our kitchen... Do like Dualit thou, we have a Dualit toaster and I love the style.

Have you seen the Alessi ones? They might be a bit modern looking too though; I like them though.

BettySpaghetti · 10/02/2007 09:44

We have the same one as Hulababy but in chrome and cream and would recommend it.

Fattytwoshoes · 10/02/2007 09:49

Fattytwoshoes · 10/02/2007 09:57

Fattytwoshoes · 10/02/2007 09:58

that was meant to say thread not threat* lol,.

Dualit do one - stylish in a slightly retro way, much like their toasters, which last for at least 100 years.

Pannacotta · 10/02/2007 10:02

Quite like the pink Hinari one Fattytwoshoes, the style anyway, but yes DH would prob think it too pink and girlie! Will have another look at the Dualit range aagin too.... Decisions, decisions!

We had a dualit one but it barely lasted a year and a half but I guess electric kettles don't last long these days

Hulababy · 10/02/2007 13:26

Had our dualit for 3 or 4 years with no problems so far.

TheBlonde · 10/02/2007 16:02

I was disappointed as it looked fab

MrsBadger · 10/02/2007 16:19

we have one of these - it's not outrageously stylish but it is slick and sutble and boils very fast.

This one's pretty cool...

MrsBadger · 10/02/2007 16:21

or there's the Porsche one...

Pannacotta · 10/02/2007 17:08

Mrs Badger, like the one you have even more that it boils fast (am not v patient!). Might go for that one... Also like the Porshe one which I had looked at, but it does seem a lot of money for a kettle, our last one was also pricey but has lasted about a year so not sure i can justify spending that much. Can anyone recommend the Porshe kettle?

I've got the Dualit (like Hulababy's link but in cream) and apart from its lovely retro look I actually don't like it that much.

The spout is small and tinny and you can't easily fill it from the tap, you have to take the lid off which is held on by a tight spring mechanism. You have to pull quite hard to get it off (using both hands, you can't flip it) and then it splashes condensation everywhere. Not a major problem but a bit annoying.

MrsBadger · 10/02/2007 18:01

that reminds me - our kettle has a button that you press and the lid flips open, and you just press it closed. Easiest kettle I've ever had when it comes to filling.
