We are moving towards goig for the SF things for DD's 5th birthday - thank you for the suggestion. We will buy some and probably grandparents/greatgrandparent.

So, what do your children have and what is played with most.

At present we are looking at the canal boat and a grey rabbit family. Also maybe the school?

What things do your recommend and why?

Caravan and badger family are a fab start IMO. There's lots too play with and if she doesn't get into it you haven't wasted too much money! DD has played with this a lot. DD is Sylvanian mad and we have an ever expanding collection. The School has also gone down well and is something that can be added to (toilets, lollipop ladies, exchange pupils).

Our local TKMaxx has the Primrose Creche in stock for £15, this also can be added to and went down well with Dsis.

Thanks, We have TKMaxx so will have a look next time in town.

We saw the nursery toilets - DD thought they were great

Has anyone got the canal river boat? I really like the look of that.

We have the river boat. DD tends to play with the house more than the boat tbh. She likes taking the furniture out and putting it back in

We have the Sylvanian families oakwood manor thingy. My girls play with it incessantly, i've only got two furnished rooms though but it does provide hours of fun....and errrmmm dd2 uses it to climb on to reach things she shouldn't really be reaching for (but then she's 2yrs old).

Hulababy · 05/02/2007 13:06

That is what bothers me with the houses - all the extra rooms sets required, which really makes it add up. She already has a doll's house full of furniture which doesn't get played with that much - so wondered if some other thing might be better???? It was Dd who saw the boat. Will keep listening to your thoughts.

My dd has played loads with the boat. She has also played a lot with the park.

School also looks good. Not seen the park - I need to explore more

Best places to buy - in store or online?

dd1(3yo) has got hours of play out of Primrose Park, and it will definitely last her for years.

I bought online from the official website. Their prices are as good, if not slightly better than big shops and also they stock more unusual bits of furniture (lots of Japanese impots) and different families not otherwise available in the UK

I had an email from Amazon this morning and noticed that they do lots of Sylvanian stuff -not sure on how their prices compare though?
