dishwasher fitting - am I being taken for a ride?

does it cost a lot to have a dishwasher fitted if it's integrated?

am currently very with shop who a) charged me £55 call-out for a bloke to come and sit on my kitchen floor for 10.5 seconds before saying my motor was gone

and now b) say that if I buy a new dishwasher from them they will charge me £44 to install it as it's integrated and therefore 'more of a faff'

they will, however, kindly only charge me half the call-out charge for the fat man's 10 second visit . I don't honestly know why the call-out, which was supposed to cover labour to mend the thing (wasn't worth it), won't cover installing a new one.

I don't feel in a mood to buy from them but just wanted to know if I was justified in going in and telling them why.. in a cross way

that sounds ok to me tbh. Still alot, but what i'd expect to pay.

Cappuccino · 03/02/2007 14:41

I'm just irritated at having to pay them twice

his first fee was meant to cover labour

but he didn't do any. why doesn't fitting the dishwasher qualify as 'labour'?

Probably because you could go elsewhere for another dishwasher and they have to cover the callout?

Cappuccino · 03/02/2007 14:47

I can go elsewhere and then I have to pay full price for the call-out

I don't mind that; I see that they have to have a minimum call-out

I mind that if I get a dishwasher from them it costs me extra to have it fitted when the bloke's call-out fee was supposed to cover him mending my old one

iswym about them fitting a new one in the price of the 1st call out but they probably have an additional fee for tiome over 30 monites or something. Don't get me wrong, It is sometimes money for old rope but doubt you'd get much cheaper elsewhere.

Excuse my typing!

Can you not fit it yourself? One pipe goes onto the cold tap and a nossle goes down the out pipe.
