ADAMS KIDS - RECEIVERSHIP?

I use schoolfunds.co.uk as my homepage and was quite surprised to see a message on there saying Adams Kids had gone into receivership - strange that their website seems to still be active.

Has anyone else heard about this?

they do seem to be having a 'fire sale' - I had wondered.

Could still be trading within a receivership - they should have something on their website to say they are in receivership if so but, if its only just happened they may not have had time.

I noticed in town the other day that Adams had a MASSIVE sale on and that they were closing down......

wheelybug · 02/02/2007 18:19

Just had a look at schoolfunds. It says they are in administration which means they would most likely be trading still (bit different to receivership to be yawningly technically boring).

That's interesting. If Adams has gone into receivership or administration (esp if it's administration), then the receivers/administrators could well decide to trade on through the procedure. If you want to buy anything off the website, then pay on Barclaycard, as if they go into liquidation and you never get your goods, I understand that Bcard will reimburse you and then deal direct with the liquidator about getting any money back.

wheely, are you in the insolvency business? (like me?!)

fannyannie · 02/02/2007 18:22

only news story I've found so far

Not sure about the Barclays thing with payment......it's them they owe the money too

wheelybug · 02/02/2007 18:22

I was until I escaped upon having dd !!

nutcracker · 02/02/2007 18:23

2 of my nearest Adams stores have closed down.

fannyannie · 02/02/2007 18:24

hmmm me thinks I may be back in town tomorrow after a shopping trip to Kettering.....there was some really nice stuff I fancied for DC3.....

geogteach · 02/02/2007 18:31

The one at Bluewater was closed when I was there today

The thing is the quality of their clothes (and Mothercares) is no better than anyone else but they expect us to pay for the name.

Lets face it we are too smart for that if you are buying cheaply made clothes you dont expect to be paying a lot for them.

I feel for anyone who is losing their job though.

fannyannie, I think it's one of the perks Barclaycard offer their customers - you can get your money back through them if a supplier you have paid goes bust before you get your goods/product. I never buy anything on debit card or by cash unless I am getting the item directly into my possession there and then. And I would always pay for a holiday on Bcard as well for the same reason...
