Tamagotchi - Version 3 or Version 4?

Ds (6) desparately wants one, as his friends have them, and dh has promised him one if he behaves well enough.

Ds says he wants Version 4 - yet his cousin (who is 9 says that Version 3 is much better than Version 4.

Which one should we get? And does anyone have any other advice about tamagotchis, as I am venturing into the unknown here!

Anyone? Or is everyone else as much in the dark about the difference as me?

Are you sure the cousin doesn't just have sour grapes! They are so competitive about them you know!

We have both. V4 has all the same stuff as V3 but it also has more games, more characters, you get letters (some good and some bad) send them to school and eventually to work (not got that far yet). I would say that they are both good but its always best to get to most recent thing you can - otherwise sods law, everyone at school will get a V4 and then your little one will want to swap!.

Be warned though that the price has suddenly gone up on Amazon for the V4. You can order them straight from bandai.co.uk for £13 but they add £2.50 postage. I think you can also get them in tesco for £12.50 but we haven't got one here. you can order from their website but then you can't choose the colour. Argos only seem to have to V3.

No, his cousin wouldn't have sour grapes: she already has one. I even think it is a version 4 - but she's had previous versions. She apparently said that she though that the V4 was a backward step - more like the V1 in some of the things that it can do. Dh rang her for advice, as the only one in our immediate family with any knowledge of tamogtchis! But 'cos I don't know anything about Tamagotchis, I don't know if some of her opinion may be a "girly" one - are there things the V4 does that a boy would like that a girl wouldn't?

Thnaks for the advice about Tesco's - I might pop in to the enormous one on my way home from my Saisnsbery's shop!

As ds has never had one, so has nothing to compare with, it might be best if we just get him the V4, as that is the one he says he wants.
