Hi there.

I hear these are supposed to be the best double prams? I want to hear what people think of these and whether it is vital to get them with front wheel that swivels? I have been looking on ebay and they are much cheaper if the wheels are fixed but not sure how difficult it is to steer if you are out shopping. I was thinking either get out n about nipper or phil & ted or maclaren double.

want it for walks and occasional visits to shops on own. any advice is great. thank you very much.

I have a maclaren twin rally but I prefer buggies with a bar instead of handles and I also find it a nightmare to get around in shops and in and out of the nursery gates and I hate the small wheels which make the babies shake over every crack so no good for the woodland walks I go on. Bought because it was the only double I could afford at the time and for travel.
I also have a Phil & Ted which I love and wouldn't part with. Easy to push, can be single or double and small enough for all shops and the bus, also very confy for a newborn who rocks gently in the cradle setting.
Currently about to try a Jane Powertwin for my twins but as soon as they are old enough I'm sure I'll go back to P&T.

I had a nipper for my twins and loved it. I got it before they introduced the swivel wheel, so can't really comment on whether one is better than the other, but it's so light, that it was really easy to steer and manoeuvre (sp?) even with a fixed front wheel. The swivel wheel version hasn't been available for long, which is probably why there aren't so many available on ebay. It's pretty narrow as well so not too hard to get around the shops with it.

The only slight disadvantages with it are: crap shopping basket (only available as an extra and not worth it imo) and because of the bucket seats, my two used to get a bit frustrated in it once they were more interested in where they were going - it was difficult for them to sit up properly.

Then someone nicked it off my front step a couple of months ago (probably sold it on ebay by now).

tkband - thanks for feedback. Thats really bad that someone stole it from your front drive!! Sorry to hear that. The seats do look very laid back - great for small ones but toddlers would get frustrated I imagine. Think I will go for phil and ted pram. thanks

i had a maclaren and hated it from day one my 18month old had no room and it wa so hard to move. the best thing i ever did was buy my nipper - fixed wheel - only had the maclaren for one week and sold it on ebay. the nipper was easy in shops and a breeze on long walks with the dog.
