Best place to buy a Phil & Teds? Does aftersales care matter?

I am about to buy a Phil & Teds
I've previously bought cheaper buggies from Kiddicare and never had any call for any aftersales service

Do I buy from Kiddicare again thus saving money or should I buy from Mothercare/ Daisy & Tom?

I have a P&T, I brought it off ebay from a lady who'd brought it then decided to sell it, so it was still brand new. I've never had any problems with mine, it's the best buggy I've ever had (and I've had a few!)

I'd go from where gives you the best deal.

misdee · 30/01/2007 10:28

i got mine from kiddicare the first time. never hasd to use their customer service though.

misdee · 30/01/2007 10:28

2nd from ebay.

3sEnough · 30/01/2007 10:32

I bought mine from the USA (dollars for pounds) and then had it serviced/mended through Daisy and Tom - I don't think it matters therefore!

misdee · 30/01/2007 10:35

tbh, when a buggy of mine breaks or something needs replacing i just cal ldirect. just been on the phone to mountain buggy to get a replacement seat wire for one i am working on, costs £8 with postage.

a lot easier than trying to deal with shops IMO. I went into john lewis to order a spare part for soemthing else and the girl on teh till didnt have a clue what i was on about, so instead i came home, emailed direct and si all sorted.

Fillyjonk · 30/01/2007 10:37

oh god the uk stockist is shite though, they always charge for some souped up delivery option then have an excuse as to why it takes 3 weeks to turn up

oh and be warned, we are on our 3rd shopping basket in 2 years. having it in 2 toddlers configuration totally buggers it.

misdee · 30/01/2007 10:39

filly, i only ever dealt with nz phil and teds for spares for the kiwi. so dont know whatthe uk stockist is like for p+t though.

Fillyjonk · 30/01/2007 10:49

oh they are shite

i hate it when the basket goes, not so much cos i have to cough up £36 but cos i have to deal with Supercillious Woman

SturdyAngel · 30/01/2007 10:59

Filly- Is that a shopping basket for the P+T?

Mine is ripped and I have just E-mailed Two Left Feet about a replacement.

Was yours covered under the guarentee or did you have to pay? If so, mind if I ask how much?

SturdyAngel · 30/01/2007 11:00

Ooops just saw your message- £36 then!

misdee · 30/01/2007 11:01

misdee · 30/01/2007 11:02

SturdyAngel · 30/01/2007 11:03

misdee · 30/01/2007 11:03

oh feck me i have, haven't I?

we'll basket #3 is wearing out so...

no mine wasn't under guarentee. it was from 2leftfeet.

thing is, the basket generally goes while in 2 toddlers configuration, and does take a while, so generally, i think, it will be out of guarentee by the time it breaks. oh AND mine keeps breaking cos i put ds, the older one, below. you're not meant to do that. ffs.

i cannot believe that this is the BEST double in the world. i mean i think it is, but...we've put people in space ffs

SturdyAngel · 30/01/2007 19:47

Lol Filly! I bought mine in April last year so am hoping it will still be under guarentee!

funnypeculiar · 30/01/2007 19:53

We've just ripped our basket too - I ranted...

Another ebay-er ... but ours got damaged in flight about 2 weeks after we bought it .. we emailed P&T in NZ re getting replacement parts - they sent us details of importer in the UK who sent us (FREE) - one foam handlebar, one axel fro front wheel & the cap from the front - got them day after I sent the email. They didn't ask how long I'd had it (or indeed, whether I'd bought it second hand [smie]

funnypeculiar · 30/01/2007 19:53

even

SturdyAngel · 31/01/2007 06:05

Had another, quite probably stupid, question about the P&T!

Is is supposed to "lock" shut when you fold it? Is there some magic trick to this? Mind doesn't and is a bit of a nightmare to lift in and out of car. Dh used the strap on the handlebar and looped it around front wheel to hold it shut- is this what your supposed to do??

misdee · 31/01/2007 07:46

yes thats what you are meant to do i puzzled me for a while.

TuttiFrutti · 31/01/2007 09:25

TheBlonde, I bought mine from the Oxford Pram Centre online a few weeks ago and the customer service was excellent. It arrived the day after ordering.

I had tried to order from Kiddicare first, but had problems registering on their computer system and the customer service people I spoke to were useless.

The price was the same.

SturdyAngel · 31/01/2007 15:27

Yay! Just heard from Two Left Feet, I am within my warrenty and a basket will be shipped to me tomorrow, free of charge!!!!

buggies4less · 31/01/2007 22:59
