5yo girl - what have you/ are you buying for your DDs?

It is DD's 5th birthday in April and I am not sure what we should buy her! She hasn't yet mentioned anything in particularly.

Have thought about a new doll's house maybe (hers is one her great grandad made and it wasn't strong enough to deal with 3yos playing with it all the time) - but will she get the use out of still? How long do they play with things like that? If a good idea, what to go for?

What other things have you/are you buying for your 5 year old daughters?

TIA

DD got a proper scooter. Took a bit of practice to get the balance/coordination, but she uses it most days now and loves it.

spudmasher · 29/01/2007 20:59

Polly pocket has gone down a treat and a school play set thingy you know with blackboard, stickers etc

Earlybird · 29/01/2007 20:59

Also got a child's china tea set (others had been plastic), and some board games/puzzles/books.

Oh - she already has a scooter and a bike, a play house outside, loads of barbie and Polly Pocket, Disney castle and figures, VSmile plus VSmile console, dance mat.... you name it really (only child, only grandchild!)

What about Sylvanian families stuff? Round here girls from about 4-10 seem to love it (helps that Sylvania HQ shop is just down the road!) but can be added to gradually with stuff from around £4 or £5 to nearer £60 or so for the big houses. Both mine (dd and ds) love it as do a lot of their friends.

Thanks for some ideas - thought about Playmobile, but not 100% sure if it isn't "more of the same" kind of thing. Hmm.

Agreed Posey. We got some for Christmas. Good quality and very sweet. Got the canal boat and a cottage thing. Lots of little cute animals. Cute cute cute

Ah, she has seen sylvain family in toy shop and was hankering...

Get it! You are looking at about 70 quid to set her up with just a house and a family though. More if you want furniture!!! It's very addictive.

LIZS · 29/01/2007 21:05

Her main presents(immediate family) included
Playmobil - we have had the Grande Mansion since Christmas 2005 and for her b'day added extra floor and stairs. For Christmas added the pavillion , wedding set and horses galore ! Gets played with between dd and ds (8) every day without fail.
Polly Pocket - cruise ship
Baby Born bits
Silver Cross pram

My dd was 5 last September and we bought her one of these and some cd's.

She plays with it so much and gets also cd's out of the library to dance to

Hulababy · 30/01/2007 20:32

Thanks for ideas.

DD alrready has a CD player in her room - that was her present from us for her 1st birthday, as there was little she actually needed at the time!
