Ken Sharp is excellent. Website is here. It costs around £125 for him to come to your house and take informal photos and included within that is one medium sized print. We then ordered more photos on top of that and had some framed as well. If you're ever in a Beanscene cafe, it's his photos that are on the walls, but you'll get an idea of the style from the website.

talcam · 29/01/2007 19:28

I have seen the pics in beanscene and do really like them but often thought he would be very expensive. How much did the extra prints cost, if you don't mind me asking

Was a little unsure of a man as DD1 can sometimes be shy around men as opposed to women - didn't fancy lots of snaps with her around my leg only

I used a good photographer in Strathaven I can find his details if that's not too far out - he was just starting out when I used him (3 years ago) but was really reasonable and we were there for about 3 hours!

i've got photos that i adore from a glasgow based photographer. I was really impressed by them and they were really affordable.

AFAIK they take photos out and about in portable studios but are based in Scotstoun. I'll just go and see if i can find their phone number. They are called 'Studio' iirc.

ja9 · 29/01/2007 19:51

ok.

'The Studio by K&M' 07810 314 524.

Let me know how you get on. I have baby 2 due in 4 weeks and would love to use them again.

I paid £95 for a package in xmas 2004 which consisted of 1 A3 print , 3 x A5 prints and 4xA6 prints. At that time they were set up in shopping centre in Stirling outside M&S - huge white back drop and flooring. Watched them lots of times before took ds and was hugely impressed with their work. They usually lie low over January but i've also heard of them doing a big stint in the East Kilbride shopping centre...

this is all i can find online

here

photos i've just browsed doesn't capture the brilliance of their work imo!

Hi Talcam. Ken works with his female partner who does lots of distraction etc to get the children to look towards the camera so it's not just him on his own. They are both lovely. I think we spent around an extra £250-£300 and we got a large framed print which is possibly A3 size and two smaller prints (one of which was included in the sitting fee). We framed one of those as well. I think the framing really adds to the cost so if you knew someone who could frame and mount at a reasonable price then you could save a bit of money.
It is expensive but the photos are really lovely and like buying a piece of art I think. DS was 1 when we had ours done and our second baby is due in 6 weeks and I think when that baby is a bit older we will get some more done. I would find it difficult to take DS to a studio and for him to be relaxed. You can email them and they will send you price information in advance.

talcam · 29/01/2007 21:49

I think Ken is a bit out of my price range but thanks for info on him.
DH is from strathaven so thats definately not to far to travel.
Will call other place tomorrow but how does that work if its a portable studio. Can other people see you getting pics done? Still EK is handy as its southside i am on anyway

I'd like to know too. I can do non-studio portraits myself, but I don't have any studio lights to do formal shots.

whoopsfallenpregnantagain · 31/01/2007 06:52

I can't find the details I had from when we were in Scotland but doing a search on yell I'm pretty sure this is the guy!

We have some fab pictures of ds plaaying with toys, dancing & Jumping!
I wish I wasn't so far away to go back to him!

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your help. I was really interested in the studio but couldn't find any numbers that work for them .
I have decided to go with CL photography in paisley. They can make an album which appealed to me because I couldn't bare the thought of all those pictures of my beautiful children being discarded
Will let you know how I get on. Thanks again
