Bumbo seat

I'm thinking of getting a bumbo seat for my 6 months ds2 to feed him in. Is is any good or is it too late as the seat will only good till he can sit on his own. Besides during feeding time, will the baby sit on it for playing too? The seat is expensive ( nearly 30 quid!) so i might have a good review first before i buy it.

I would recommend the first years seat that straps onto your dining chairs. I've used mine for 3.5 years now and it was about 30 quid. Do you really want to sit on the floor to feed your ds?

I've found mine (well ds's) invaluable, but more so from 4-6 months before he could sit unsupported for very long. I never used it for feeding him, but it was great to have somewhere safe to plonk him when I needed to answer the phone, go to the loo, do things in the kitchen etc. When I was cooking or cleaning in the kitchen I'd put him in it on a work surface and he could watch me at eye level. He much prefered that to sitting down on the ground looking upwards.
Mine was about £20 from a local baby shop.

i knoe several quite young (and not particularly mobile) babies who manage to fall forwards out of their bumbo and land with a bang straight on their forehead

unfortunatly one of these babies was in his bumbo on the table .... and dasddy was just getting 3 year old sister a drink at the wrong momenet... 7 month old ended up smashing head first from the table onto the floor

obviosuly he sholdnt have been put on the table but even so... daddy thought he was safe (he had never fallen out before)

personally i have seen them and used them but wouldnt by or use one for my own child, and would not leave a child unaccompanied in one, even for a second

I was given one when dd was born and haven't had the use out of it that I thought I would

I had one for DD1 and she loved it but only until 6mths as then she could sit herself.also they cant reach toys on the floor etc as it is at a funny height.

i liked mine usecd it from 4 to 7 months approx when she refused bouncy chair like a banshee but would also recommend the booster seat like this (i have two one at mine and one at mil didnt realise it said from 1 year till we bought second one think they may have changed that from can sit unaided or may have just missed it) as the can be strapped onto chair or work fine on the floor, ibought thius on mn recommendation goes in dishwasher!, my dd can now climb in and out of her bumbo she thinks its a toy! if you still want one def get one second hand, as loads of people sell them on, i bought mine from glasgow pram online it was cheaper there than in shops, i think there is a tray being produced similar to bebe pod new one but not available in uk yet, that will be big improvement as babies drop toys easily as it is now but thats not much use for now hope that helps!!!!

we had a bumbo for DS but he hated being fed in it ... he tends to arch his back in it and also gets frustrated as he can't reach for things ... TBH i would recommend a highchair for feeding in ...
