Can anyone tell me why you can't buy Elefanten shoes in this country any more? (and how to get hold of them now?)

Love Elefanten shoes. Our dds had them as tots (when we could buy them at the local shop ). Ds is now ready for his first pair and we wanted to get him some - but it appears to be just about impossible to get any!!

Can't you get them in Frasers or John Lewis?

Fimbo · 26/01/2007 15:22

I think our JL still sells this make.

Miaou · 26/01/2007 15:23

Hmm, I don't know ... it's years since I've ventured down far enough to go near such a shop . And from here we are limited to what we can find out on the internet.

Would love to know if it's possible; I would send an MNer the money to get some for me!

Have just found this;-

Umi is a new brand being manufactured in Germany out of the Elefanten factories. Many styles have been based on the original Elefanten brand featuring bright colours, high quality leathers and new designer lokking images.

Take i back Charles Clikard no longer stock, just checked. They've also stopped 'Buckle My Shoe' in fact looks like they realigned their stockist to be much more 'main stream' iykwim. shame really.

Piffle · 26/01/2007 15:50

Clarkes have bought Elefanten, not sure what is going to happen re production and quality, so I'm moving brands until I am sure.

Piffle · 26/01/2007 15:50

All our local independent shoe shops stopped stocking them due to the Clarkes buy out
