I work for a local authority and we are trying to move to a paperless office. However everyone seems to agree that it is easier on the eye to print off long documents rather than trying to read them on screen. Most people find that it gets quite painful to read text for longer than a few minutes on a screen. Does anyone know why this is and is any company trying to invent an "easier to read from" screen?

You may be right - i have a fat CRT at home and find this harder to read from than my TFT at work. Hadn't heard about the coloured screens - will see if i can get one to try.

Ask your HR dept to assess your "workstation" and set up is OK.
Adjust the brightness and text size for comfort.
Sit back from the screen.

You should be able to read for hours on-screen no problems - we do on MN and it saves the trees.
