£3.95 - just received a parcel from them today

I think they had a special delivery option too at around £6-7, but to be honest, the standard arrived within 24hrs of me placing the order, so not really an issue.

Or free delivery if you spend £75...

Got a Cuski doll thing (one of those security-blanket-dolls that you sleep with to give your scent before giving it to baby). It's my latest attempt to Get That Baby To Sleep Damnit [tm].

Fingers crossed

hmm sorry but cuski did not work for us...
but putting her to sleep on her tummy did...
ooops bad mother medal just around the corner!!

LOL.

Wouldn't worry about bad mother medal. I've already won mine today. Shouted at my ds1 because he was being noisy and I was stressed because ds2 wasn't sleeping so ended up with 2 howling children. Then later on, I left ds2 to cry for a short while out of desperation. He went quiet. Went in to check and he was fast asleep pressed on the side of the cot - he'd somehow got wedged and his arm stuck through the bars He had a red puffy eye for about half an hour afterwards due to the pressure of being shoved up against the bars...

Anyway, Cuskis... oh well... I'll try it. I'm trying everything else!

Georgina, my ds2 has a cuski and seems to really like it - he always goes to sleep with it draped over his face!! Its a good shape for sucking on too.

ds1 calls it 'ds2's crusty' !

Report
GeorginaA · 03/06/2004 18:11

Eeek... is it okay if they drape it over their face? At newborn level I mean? LOL at crusty - ds2 has already been sick all over it so doesn't quite smell of me any more ... (ew) Am thinking I probably need to buy a couple of spares so I have coverage during washing?

Talking of which ... just went in and found 3 week old ds with it draped over his nose and mouth... gave me such a fright...

I take it this would be unsafe?!

DS too hot in 1 tog Grobag so ordered a 0.5 tog one on their website on Tuesday morning (before noon) along with a couple of other things. Half expected to receive it yestderday. The other part of the order arrived today and on the invoice it said my Grobag had been "back ordered". I rang them up to find out what this meant and was told that they were expecting more in stock on 28th June so I should receive it then. That's a great deal of use to me if we have another hot spell in the meantime. What p*ses me off is the fact that a)it was in stock when I ordered it and b)I had to ring them to find out what was going on. Thought Bump to 3 were supposed to be good. IMO they are crp.

I've had very good service from them, usually deliver goods within a couple of days. Unless their stock system is directly linked to their website, then I doubt if they can be blamed for being suddenly out of stock of 0.5 Tog Grobags in a heatwave. I think you're being a bit hard on them!

BTW, have you tried going down to nothing but a nappy inside the 1 Tog Grobag? We have a 0.5 Tog one, but dd had spilled some drink on it, so it went in the wash, the 1 Tog was fine!

Thanks for that tip Tissy. We'll try that until the 0.5 arrives. I don't think I'm being hard on them either as I'd expect them to have extra stock in the summer, in case there is a heatwave. My main grumble is that I tried to order a different design in the 0.5 which was out of stock but the one I ordered was in stock when my order went through! (Does that make sense? )

Georgina, I don't know whether it is safe or not...all I know is that ds2 really likes something touching his mouth when he goes to sleep, so he pulls it up against his mouth when I give it him, and then when his arms fall either side of his head when he falls asleep, the cuski stays over his face. He used to do the same with blankets and I thought that was a bit much - that was when I substituted the cuski which is pretty light and thin, so I was less worried (and I suppose I thought, if they're marketed at babies to take to bed with them, they're probably ok). If I see it right over his face I tend to pull it away from his nose - more often its a kind of 'shawl' effect.

I think the draping thing is safe. DS won't countenance sleep without pulling his blankie bear up over his face. If its not around then he has been known to grab the shirt/skirt of a passing mother. I usually wait till he's sparked out and then pull it away from his nose/mouth as am paranoid parent.
