Worryingly, it is not just Bratz. I believe 98% of toys are made using child labour or very unfair working conditions.

So expensive too - where's the justice?

TooTicky · 18/01/2007 11:19

There is no justice, it's just vastly unpublicised.

I hate the bratz range, all the dolls look like girls who have had plastic surgery.

Rhubarb · 18/01/2007 12:50

I wouldn't ever buy any child a Bratz toy. Just think about the message it gives to kids! Kids are so guillible and this toy is absolutely disgusting!

CodArtist · 18/01/2007 12:51

DD has 4 boys and 6 girl Bratz, she loves them and so we don't really mind her having them. Same idea as Barbie surely??

Rhubarb · 18/01/2007 12:53

Worse than Barbie.

They look more like children wearing prostitute clothes and full make up.

More and more little girls are now obsessed with their hair and make-up and these toys just confirm and feed that obsession.

asleep · 18/01/2007 12:57

don't know what i was thinking, but i have bought DD bratz dolls. and barbie dolls. she really didn't like them. she played with the tea cups and other accessories that came with them. i gave them all to the charity shop.

poppyh · 18/01/2007 15:08

My daughter tells her friends, 'Mummy doesnt like Bratz and im not allowed them'! I actually call them Little Whores!
Not to my DD obviously. But I think they send out the wrong messages, so the fact that the people making them are violated in such a way makes me

I hate the Bratz Dolls and that story make me hate them all the more!

wheresthehamster · 18/01/2007 19:04

It's the fact that they all look like Pete Burns that makes them so revolting.

redshoes · 18/01/2007 20:38

wheresthehamster you're so right! I hate them too, but have just let dd1 buy a bratzbaby mermaid with her xmas money - pure peer pressure...

myturn · 18/01/2007 20:44

I'm sure our parents had the same issues with Barbie dolls (not the child labour issues tooticky, just the 'whore' look)...

I happened to love them as a child. I don't think it turned me into a whore...

bandstand · 18/01/2007 20:57

i thought they were just barbies with attitude

myturn · 18/01/2007 21:04

Well, I hate them, and am just glad I have a ds who is not into girly toys at all.

Please, please tell me that Playmobil is ethically sound, as he loves the stuff!

TooTicky · 18/01/2007 23:09

I believe playmobil is made in Germany and Malta, so it should be ethical worker-wise. Also, it is tested for LGA which I gather is something unpleasant found in some plastics. Not many other companies do so buy with a clear conscience - I think!

IDo we stop buying things made in China then? Are all things made there under these conditions?
