SonicDX - Game for PC. Installs ok but then won't work - HELP!

Have bought ds1 a SonicDX Adventure game this morning. All installs ok, and the manual tells you to leave disk 2 in CD-ROM drive to play. Well we did this but when we try to start up game it tells us wrong disk is in drive and to use original. Anyone else had this ?

Why does anything we buy for the PC never work first time ??? Is it personal ??!!!

Groan, I know the problem kayleigh. I don't allow any PC games in the house any more - consoles are for games and PCs are for everything else!

What happens if you put disc one back in when the error message comes up?

tried that spacemonkey, just brings up the installation menu again.

The worst thing is ds1's face. he was so looking forward to playing it. looks like i'll be back at pc world tomorrow. bought a printer as well this morning and that won't work without an adapter of some description either.

my advice is to get yourself a playstation one for ds (you can pick them up second hand very cheaply). Games will always work perfectly, and you can buy preowned games for as little as a quid!

Another advantage of this is that you get sole use of PC for extended mumsnet sessions

spacemonkey the stupid thing is we have got a platstation 1. It was handed down by my nephew when he got a playstation2 for xmas (great to have rich relatives!!!). Have already bought a few games on Ebay.

We were buying a printer this morning and I was completely tuned into that. Ds1 said he wanted this game - and I said no as he has a birthday coming up. Anyway my MIL was with us as she is here for long weekend and she said she'd buy it. I said ok without thinking as was trying to sort printer.
Lessons to be learnt -

  1. NEVER take children shopping
  2. Stop buying games that can be played on MY pc

Thank you. Will try and return game and get him something for playstation instead.

just as an update - i took the pc game back to pc world and got the £19.99 back. And for just over that amount I have bought him 5 games off ebay for his playstation, two of which have already arrived.

And the new rule in our house - no more games for the computer. It's all MINE !!!!
