Tents: Littlelife Twin Arc vs. Nomad?

I'm looking for a (very) portable travel cot for a 15 month old, and keen on these two.
Twin Arc sounds difficult to assemble but looks as tho it would work as a playpen - does anyone know if it does?
Nomad looks great but I am worried that ds will wander off- would the zip withstand a very strong, deternined toddler? Also, is the self-inflating mattress worth the extra?

Another question - have read a few comments on the amount of floorspace these require; have people found that they fit OK (with room to get around them) in a normal-sized hotel/guest room? Thanks!

We have the Nomad. Fits no problem. DD has only just become a toddler so can't tell you yet whether it would withstand her, but I hope so! It certainly seems a strong zip.

SIM is very comfy, but generally requires a little extra oral inflation.

Very light and transportable.

Am not familiar with the Twin Arc so can't give you a comparison.

Thanks CanStarve. Yet another question: I had thought that the Nomad just had a side opening, so couldn't be used as a playpen - but I see from the Nomad site that there's a top opening, too. Does this mean it would work as a travel playpen? Am about to go on a trip alone with ds, and it would be handy to be able to corral him for brief spells...

why would a side opening one not work as a play pen. am i being really thick here?

nappyaddict · 19/03/2007 00:39

oh yes they wouldn't be able to stand!!

nappyaddict · 19/03/2007 00:50

how long does the nomad take to put up?

I am just about to exchange my samsonite bubble as it is faulty but cant decide if I should now get the little life arc 2? It keeps going out of stock in mothercare. I really like the bubble though

nappyaddict · 19/03/2007 10:32

how about the arc 3? it has uv mesh so can be used outside.

nikki81 · 19/03/2007 10:57

Do you have an arc 3? That one seems too big really and not sure I like the shape of it, much prefer the arc2

nappyaddict · 19/03/2007 10:59

no but that's the one i'm getting cos i want to be able to use it on the beach in the garden and in the park etc.

Vertbaudet have a travel cot called sun travel cot which sounds like a small one but there is no picture of it, have you seen this one?

nappyaddict · 19/03/2007 11:17

yes but that's a lot heavier at 9.2kg. might go for the nomad instead ... i'm not sure yet.

We bought the twin arc and DH says it is a bit of a pain to put up, takes him about 15 mins plus another 12 mins complaining about it. However it is very light and doesn't take up a great deal of room, you should be able to fit it in a hotel room.
I suppose you could use the Twin arc as a play pen but if your 15mth is anything like our 11mth old, then they wouldn't stay in it for long.
