Dd's second birthday coming up just after christmas - just wondered what your 2 year old loves above everything else(even if they are nearer 3 so its something that could be put away for later in the year) ??

thanks in advance.

Ds2 is 2.8 and loves playing with his toy till (ELC I think - it was a present). He'll play in his room for quite a long time with it - mainly taking all the money out and scattering it around...

He'll play on his own with his toy cassette player - he's got 4 song tapes and quickly learnt the buttons, so lots of swapping the tapes and singing along.

His other favourite is a toy picnic basket with pretend food in, and flask, plates, cups etc. He'll set out picnics and serve food!

great - thanks. DD doesn't have any of those things. A couple of other people have suggested a till so thats good to have another vote !

At that age my ds loved pushing his cheapo £5 fold up buggy with a teddy in.

Duplo or pretty much any construction toy
a little family of playmobil people ("my family") who he enacts all sorts of little scenarios with

to a lesser extent
play tools and a tape measure (everything is 85)
toy kitchen, tea set and play food
diggers

Plates, cups and play food.
Cheap buggy.

Ds, 2.6, loves his ELC garage and also pushes the cars around the living room as well (around my head usually ). He also loves the tub of mini animals from ELC (jungle ones) which he spends ages lining up, then knocking down.

My ds always sucks me into the duplo games. I built a lovely jail for Scoop the other day as well as a see-saw for him.

Brio/Tesco/Ikea wooden train set. Absolutely loves it. I have to help put the track together but then all I hear for an hour is "chooo chooo!!"
(Mine is the Ikea one - £8 for a figure of 8)

My dd love's her play tea set, phone and of course that extremly annoying piano she was given for crimbo.

Pollyanna · 13/01/2007 16:45

dd3 loves her toy kitchen and food and dolls/pushchair. dd3 was 2 last week. oh and she really really really loves her teletubbies playset.

Wheelybug · 13/01/2007 17:15

DD was 2 a couple of days back. She loves her bluebell boot from ELC and plays on her own with it for ages!

Dd loved plastic animals, still does. I loved watching her with them she used to have them sitting talking to each other (in fact she still does) and we used to have to buy them in pairs as a mummy and a baby so they could play together.

mckenzie · 13/01/2007 21:16

DD (2 in march) will play forever with her cheap as chips buggy and dolls, her plastic tea set, a saucepan and wooden spoon.
The best of all though is she will sit quietly in front of her book shelf and work her way through pretty much the whole lot then move over to her brother's shelf and start on his books. This can take over an hour . Heaven.
