HELP - trivial Phil and Ted's question

claricebean · 11/01/2007 12:23

OK, I have my indecisive pregnancy head on and am about to order a Phil & Teds' E3 double buggy. As I don't live in the UK, I have never seen one in real life but, after much research, have decided it's the buggy for me. BUT, I am now faced with the awful decision of WHAT COLOUR? I know, I know, it's so superficial, but I haven't seen what they look like except in online photos. Am currently thinking orange or apple - are they hideously gaudy in real life, or gorgeous????

I have a red one - they are fab!

I think the apple one looks a bit insipid - orange one is brighter. I have some friends who have the sand one - just looks dirty!

noonar · 11/01/2007 12:34

red is fab. green yuk. orange ok. grey/ blue boring.
red is best as its bright without being attention- seekingly obvious.

TheBlonde · 11/01/2007 12:38

apple and orange look extremely bright in RL
red/ grey/blue seem to be the most popular

claricebean · 11/01/2007 12:38

Thanks hotmama and noonar. Sounds like red's winning so far. Still feel ridiculous for asking but console myself with the fact that even with pregnancy brain, I think I could make a decision if I saw them lined up in a shop!

I have the charcoal and black one - hides the dirt.

clairemow · 11/01/2007 12:41

definitely red (like mine! - and I think red has best resale value as most popular....), or I actually liked the dark blue too. The green one is like bile and the orange is just a bit gaudy for me...

twickersmum · 11/01/2007 12:50

mine is blue, a lovely royal navy - love it - though i accept it is a bit of a boring choice.
apple one is fluorescent and really very very bright
orange one is quite fun, bright but quite a nice deep orange, if you like orange!
sand one is very pale beige and would get filthy i think

Bagpuss30 · 11/01/2007 13:08

Another blue one here. Mine is nearly three years old and still looks in mint condition as it never really shows the dirt.

claricebean · 11/01/2007 13:22

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Sounds like the green is getting a big thumbs down. Perhaps I should go red. Wish I could see them!!!!!

To add to your indecision (with which I completely sympathise - have pregnant brain too and can't make a decision on which pre-school to chose for DD1) I saw a very smart all black Phil & Teds the other day - think it's quite a new colourway. Much nicer than the grey one.

Agree that the green one is too lurid. Like the sand, but not practical. I'd go for the black or the red.

claricebean · 11/01/2007 15:07

amazonianwoman, thanks for the sympathy.

apple just sounds so fresh, but i can appreciate that it probably looks more vomit than lime in real life!

Ive just ordered one and im getting the new for 2007 black colour, been told green and orange attract wasps

twickersmum · 11/01/2007 15:10

it's just really really fluorescent. like those highlighter pens. swear it would glow in the dark. i have never seen an apple like it!

claricebean · 11/01/2007 15:10

ooh wasps, not good. now that hadn't featured in my thinking.

claricebean · 11/01/2007 15:42

twickersmum, thanks for making me smile during my dilemma filled day. LOL at thought of glow-in-the-dark apples. They could catch on.

I bought second hand and nearly paid extra for red ... but dh convinced me this was foolish ... love the red one

Green one strictly for attention seekers only

Lizzylou · 11/01/2007 15:47

Ours is charcoal and looks fab, even through the northern wind, rain, mud...mind you we have two boys and DH would NO WAY let them get into an orange/green one.
My friend has a red one and it is lovely...I wish I hadn't gone for such a masculine one!

Tis a fabbo buggy all round tho

NannyL · 11/01/2007 18:38

we have a blue one

i would not choose an orange or green one cause IMO they are far too bright!

claricebean · 11/01/2007 19:56

Ok, am definitely wavering from orange and green as NO ONE has one. I'm thinking that if all of you saw them in real life before choosing then you can't all have different tastes to me. Hmm - could be red then. I guess that's bright too. But so far my buggies have been navy, black and grey (on 4th AND FINAL child) so fancy a change. Thanks so much for the feedback. When I'm next in the UK (post birth and buggy purchase) I'll have a look at them all!!

TheBlonde · 11/01/2007 22:19

if you look on ebay you may find some rl pics of them

the green is really like those florescent socks that were in fashion in the 80's

claricebean · 12/01/2007 09:11

Good idea, theBlonde. I'll try that.
