kitchen roll palm trees!green rug for grass maybe

Kbear · 08/01/2007 14:50

What about that stuff green grocers use under their fruit and veg, fake grass type stuff? Got one locally you can chat up? Apart from that, what about a green fleece throw?

Ikea have toy snakes and other creatures usually.

filthymindedvixen · 08/01/2007 14:55

lots of green tissue paper cut into circles, thread them onto green string for 'vines' accross ceiling.

How long do you have before the big day? How old is dd?

Those long balloons painted as snakes?

Cut big leaf shapes out of green painted newspaper and blue tack to walls?

Get as many cuddly (jungle) toys together as you can find and have them hiding around the room.

Get some fake fur zebra print, cheeta print etc and have it over the sofa etc (I know, I know, Zebra's and cheetas are not 'jungle dwellers technically but play along with me )

Sounds great fun - wish I could literally help!

Astroturf from any big garden centre

Scenesetters are really good here for eg

filthymindedvixen · 08/01/2007 14:57

£10 a square metre?

fake grass

franch · 08/01/2007 19:02

Great ideas everyone, thanks so much. £10 a sq metre a bit much I think ...

The Scenesetters are fab - pity they don't do a jungle one

DS had a jungle party a few years ago - I made trees using green crepe paper + cardboard, used coconut shells, had jungly animals printed off internet & stuck around the place, bought jungle animal masks also had some jungle sound effects that we got off internet !

Skribble · 08/01/2007 20:52

Those cheap natural mats from Ikea could be a good floor covering.

Another site for ideas. search under jungle on this site too for more.

What about string from corner to corber at ceiling height then attaching strips of crepe paper all around the room to cover up the normal room.

Skribble · 08/01/2007 20:55

Loads of other peoples ideas and what they did .

filthymindedvixen · 09/01/2007 19:58

OMG. I just read one of those party resumes Skribble, and it must have taken them months to plan and prep....for a 3-yr-old!!!

''I made a happy birthday banner out of bamboo skewers tied togehter with string dyed to look likerope...''

So I was thinking Franch............... lol............. the DTs haven't seen your DD for a while................

allmytimeonmumsnet · 10/01/2007 10:13

Camo net works really well. DS has one across the cieling in his bedroom - hides all the cracks. You can thread snakes and things in it or have spiders hanging from it. Plenty of play value afterwards too so not a waste of money. Ours cost about £10.

OK some people have far to much time on there hands, some of those on that link are way too much .
