Question about printing my own postage

I want to send something Special Delivery (ie guaranteed next day delivery with insurance)- it's a letter that will fit into a normal post box.

My question is - if I print the postage label on my PC using the Royal Mail online facility, can I then just put the letter into the post box, or do I have to hand it over the PO counter (which rather defeats the object of printing it out here).

Anyone help with this boring query?

see here - it's not very legible on my mac, but the small print by the red calculate price button says that you have to take it to the PO ot have it collected

it says "Buy now using online postage. You can buy and print Special Delivery? from your computer. Then just take it to your Post Office® or have it collected. ..."

thanks for that. Seems to defeat the object really, so I won't bother...

Thanks again.
