Want to get ds a tool bench for his birthday, he will be 3 in february. there are some good reductions around at the moment, but now i am confused as there are quite a few to choose from?! have looked at the plastic ones, with and without sound effects, etc, bob the builder, bosch, black and decker. have also seen some nice wooden ones on the internet. anyone got any good recommendations please??

We got DS a black and decker one when he was 2 (he's now 3.3) and he loves it. Still goes to play with it every day. He also got the power tools as an xmas present which have had good use too.

DS (2.6) had the Black and Decker one for his 2nd birthday and plays with it all the time. He also had some "working" power tools for Xmas (they are Bob the Builder ones that make a noise, spin round etc) so currently plays with it all daily.

The only tool he doesn't have is a hammer (actually he has about 4 but they are all hidden away on top of the kitchen cupboards but thats another story...)

I havent seen the black and decker one, but ds got a talking workbench from tesco for christmas and it is good. Has all the tools, and a phone which rings and asks you to do jobs, drill, goggles etc. It was a present so no idea how much it was, but it might be worth a look.

It is plastic and folds down into a suitcase type size for storing.

ob the builder is fab, got dd it for christmas and all the mindee's /friends children love it!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 04/01/2007 14:11

i bought b&d one for friends ds t christmas from woolies and it was half price (paid £29.99), plus you got lots of extra tools with it), Ob one is interactive and has spinning saws(plastic obv!) and lots of buttons to press and make noises

alibo · 06/01/2007 11:52

btw, ssf, can the bob one be turned off, ie the sound effects? . sounds good but am debating on whether or not i can stand another noisy toy with voices that repeat over and over......if you know what i mean!
