Apparently so - we can all be trendy and hip now - Hoorah can't wait - think it is June that they come into stores around the country!!

Well that's one answer to the teenage pregnancy problem!

NomDePlume · 24/05/2004 10:03

This is a great idea Twinkie (not everyone who'll buy this stuff is part of the 'teenage pregnancy problem', toddler bob. I suspect that was a throwaway comment, I hope so anyway!). When I was pregnant with DD at 20, I found shopping for maternity wear was a bit of a 'mare. I ended up with a capsule wardrobe of H&M Mama stuff as that was all that I liked !

I think topshop are wise to tap into this additional market, as there are a lot of fashion conscious 16-25 year old pregnant women with a thrifty budget.

muddaofsuburbia · 24/05/2004 10:22

Oh dear - I'm a wrinkly 28 year old who still shops in Topshop (and Miss Selfridge) - this sounds a great idea! Just need to get pg now!

toddlerbob · 24/05/2004 10:26

Sorry it was just a throwaway line - largely prompted by being hugely jealous given the lack of any maternity wear in NZ that was affordable and nice when I was pg. I am the wrong side of 29 and I will probably get my mum to bring some over if I am pg again.

NomDePlume · 24/05/2004 10:36

Sorry, toddlerbob. Perhaps I'm a bit over defensive of younger mums, eh ?!

Twinkie · 24/05/2004 10:38

Beginning of June it is all launched - I know it will be at Bluewater and Lakeside and Liverpool (she siad those 3 when I said I lived in Kent!!) and will be available on the website too!!

Can't wait - thought I would just have to have long groovy shorts and baggy vests for hols but I am off to get lots of lurvly minis and shorts!!

Damn this thread, I'm now on the website filling my basket with reckless abandon !!! DH will kill me, I'll have to hide my credit card statement

Cam · 24/05/2004 11:27

TopShop clothes last fitted me when I was about 13; maybe I can wear the pg range as normal clothes?

Twinkie · 24/05/2004 11:30

You'll look lovely Cam and I am sure they would fit you now!!

Welshmum · 24/05/2004 14:55

When do you think you're too old to shop there. I happily breeze in and I'm 40....just wondering if other shoppers are looking at me with pity in their eyes

NomDePlume · 24/05/2004 15:06

I dunno really what the 'cut off' is but the stores main customer base is 16-25 year olds, that their 'market'. Of course there are older people (and younger) people who shop there. I guess it depends each individual shopper, their tastes, budget and what suits them.

Twinkie · 24/05/2004 15:08

But I thknk everything in there looks as though you have to ba a size 6 or it won't fit you - do they do normal sized clothes?? (not that normal sized clothes fit me at the moment!!)

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 24/05/2004 15:18

I've bought size 12 and 14 stuff from there before and it has been fine (although not always terribly flattering !)

lou33 · 24/05/2004 16:35

I'm 37 and still shop there. Maternity doesn't apply to me.

marthamoo · 24/05/2004 16:47

I would shop there if we had one! Though not for maternity clothes, I hasten to add

LucyJones · 24/05/2004 16:52

Welshmum - I still shop in Topshop, Miss Selfridges etc and I'm nearly 30 but the other day in New Look I felt old!!!!! Perhaps I should start helping M&S get back on their feet - grr

littlerach · 24/05/2004 16:52

I am sure that I read this somewhere else, and the report said that it was going to make other stores such as Next and Mothercare review their lines, as they will not have the monpoly on the high street anymore. Could be just what we all need!!!

SpringChicken · 24/05/2004 16:57

Oh t'riffic. Trust it to be launched when i wont need it anymore - Just my luck

There is no way i'll be able to persuade DP that i need more clothes when i only have a few weeks to go but i could try

Twinkie · 28/05/2004 12:11

Topshop Bluewater have their range in now, combats, vests, skirts, jeans & t shirts - but no Swimwear!!!!

oliveoil · 28/05/2004 13:01

You can't beat H&M for maternity clothes. But I haven't been in TS so I may be talking rubbish, will avoid as I have enough already.

sweetkitty · 28/05/2004 13:02

Venturing to Bluewater this weekend for some summer maternity bits and pieces will report back.

Will their sizes be more generous ie fit anyone over a size 12 IMO their sizes are way out!
