which joggers alarm/self defence device?

Please help me find a joggers self defence alarm, preferebly something recommended, I had a look on google but there are many and am confused?
also, if they emit really loud sounds if i ever had to use this, would it damage my ears?
any tips appreciated, thank you!

There are pedometer ones with a alarm on them too, my DH has one like this . It is pretty loud but would only cause damage to you if you had it blaring all the time. The alarm is activated by pulling out a pin which is usualy attached to a wrist strap or neck strap. It is only design to shock someone and attract attention, they are not self defence as such, its not that the noise is so loud they will be repelled physically.

Don't use in as a substitute to commen sense and other means of self defense.
