How do I make my own scented ironing water - I'm fed up of paying for it

We seem to go through masses and I really object to paying a small fortune for what effectively is scented water. So, how do I make my own that will not ruin the laundry - I originally thought of using essential oils but dh has pointed out that oil and ironing may not be a great combination!

Eh? Why not normal water?

moondog · 18/12/2006 23:30

Just put a few drops of essential oil (lavendar is good) into water and shake.
Tis easy.

Why bother at all?
Don't you get oil on what you're ironing?

moondog · 18/12/2006 23:34

Smells nice.Just shake it up.
Also can put little balls of cotton wool soaked in same in your airing cupboard.

God,I sound like an airhead.

Shall be giving instructions on how to do sugarcraft next....

MrsFogi I thought nobody bought that stuff! I would go through several litres a week, would cost a small fortune.

Agree with Moondog about the lavendar essential oil, not that I've tried it myself but think Kim and Aggie recommend that.

Do you all want to go around smelling like your granny?
