what would you buy a boy of 9? he likes football and irish dancing, but what else, what games are popilar? blocks?

Asda here stocks national geographic toys, they ahve a metal detector and planetarium in your price range- toys r us do it too. We have both here wrapped, the planetarium in particular looks excellent as it comes with a PC disk

If he likes football you could get him a football/football net (if he has a garden) I have got my 7yrold nephew a T-shirt making kit from ELC (£10) - presumably a 9yrold would enjoy something like that too

Yes Bopit seems quite popular. Uno (they do different versions like Simpsopns etc) is popular with my ds who is 9. The Q20 is quite good too. Lego? Magnetix? Airfix type model? Pass the Bomb game is quite good.
