I know the TV advert is crap - but is Iceland any good for party food?

The party food looked nice on TV but is it any good in RL?
I have 17 hungry people for Xmas day and it is unjustifiable spending £3.99 for 12 each of nibbles - I'd need about 20 packs of them! The Iceland packs seem to have 60 in each or something.

I do like Iceland and some of their stuff is okay. Their own pizzas are rubbish though

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:43

as long as you don't mind revolting tasting nibbles I'm sure they are fine

crazydazy · 15/12/2006 10:45

I think there stuff is quite nice really and cheap to boot.

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 10:45

60 times rubbish is still rubbish

if you think they look nice in the ad you will probably love them

marymillington · 15/12/2006 10:45

make your own

they will be a gazillion times nicer

people will appreciate the effort

its easy. the DCs can help you

lots of that stuff on the telly is un-food

Glassofwine · 15/12/2006 11:06

The mini eclairs and yummy, but a bit abigails party

mustrunmorenakedthroughthesnow · 15/12/2006 11:18

Sweet stuff not too bad. Savoury stuff; you can tell its only £1 a box.Depends how kind you want to be, versus the effort involved.

expatinscotland · 15/12/2006 11:24

Costco is better

tracyk · 15/12/2006 12:06

Costco is cash tho - expat. dh just bought a camera off ebay rather than a shop - so he's using the spare cash on that rather than on our 0% M&S card!

Will start a thread for ideas for home made nibbles

Well...I love their oriental nibbles...but then...I would eat most things and not notice if it was good or bad...!
The Sausagerolls are as good as any others, the mini sausages are also the same as all cocktail sausages imo....found the garmic mushrooms (which I usually love) a bit vile though!

Gingerbear · 15/12/2006 21:15

Aldi and Lidl are doing good nibbles at the moment.
Aldi's Christmas pud was voted 2nd in a recent tasting on a Rick Stein programme (Sommerfield came top!)
