Where, or how, can I get a dining room table delivered within a week??

We are moving house on Thursday, and relatives from abroad arrive for all sorts of christmas family meals four days later. We only have a crummy little kitchen table. I would like something elegant-ish yet arty or at least not too stuffy, in oak, to be delivered within the next week, and have no shopping time.

Does anyone do instant deliveryu? Or shopuld I go to one shop and then hire a man-with-van to pick it up?

or will we have to make do without, somehow??

Either get a big piece of MDF and put it on top of your kitchen table (bracing the corners) or go to Ikea or similar. Wouldn't want to spend loads on a rushed purchase. On the other hand our local independent shop is great - had a bed delivered in 2 days.

If you don't want to spend too much, what about Argos??

They're usually quick on deliveries.

Think it depends on where you live as well.

Have you tried Homebase on line as they do tables.

Also B&Q.

yes - thank you all - I will have a quick look at all these options, but I think a peice of 8'x4' MDF delivered by one of our many local timber yards is a good idea.

And then seek out something costly and lovely at a knock down post-christmas sale price!!

You're right, we shouldn't rush a major purchase.

Thank you.
