Do Boots allow exchanges without a reciept?

A friend has bought dd a completely unsuitable toy from boots and even though I feel bad about it I'd like to return it, but don't have the reciept. I know its from boots as it has their little three for two sticker on. I can't find anything on their website about returns without a reciept. Would I be wasting my time trying to take it back?

They may be happy to exchange it though I'm not sure how it works out when you bring back something form the 3 for 2 offer.

I've taken back 3 for 2 before and got back full price.

I have swapped a 3 for 2 item from boots for something else before without a reseipt.
