Dd aged 5 has her heart set on a VSmile. SHe has seen it advertised on the TV. The plan was to buy it between her and 3 year old ds and get her a Dora game and ds a Thomas one.

However I have had a look and I think the Leapster system looks better and will last dd for longer. You can get Dora and Thomas games for them too.

Has anyone any experience of these two consoles?

DD (4y8m) has a VSmile and really likes it, as do her friends who visit. If you buy the games that are for the correct age group, and change the level settings, then they are normally pretty spot on - unless your children are more used to proper games consoles I guess. DD has the Dora game. The simple mode is good for the little ones, and the harder level is fine for most 4-5 year olds as well IME. It is aged 3-5 years though, so your 5 year old might find it a bit easy after a shrt while. The Little Mermaid or Cinderella games might be better longer term. We have had ours for almost two years now and it is still gowing strong and more and more games are coming out for it all the time. The Art Centre is pretty good too. You can also get a dance mat but not seen that working so no idea how good it is, or not.

DD is getting the VSmile Pocket this Christmas from PILs, to use along side it. It uses the same games and the console.
