Childrens table and chairs

I want a good looking set of table and chairs for dd1 (girl) and can't find much. Either ridiculous money, not very nice or not practical. Any ideas?

The ones I don't like are the JL ones that have animals carved on the chairs. Saw Sia ones that were cute but each stool was 25 quid!

Round table pref so she can play and eay at it with friends

Ikea is the best for kids furniture I find

coolmama · 04/12/2006 19:49

sorry to be dim, but who or what is Sia?

these from Ikea have served my DSs very well.

I spent months trying to find the perfect table & chairs for dd, was just about to shell out a small fortune in 'the little white company' when I found the ones Tommy has linked and I liked them better!
Have to say they are fab, just need a little work doing to finish them off. I painted mine with an eggshell paint (white) then painted little pink spots and flowers on.

I have the Svala one too. It has lasted for years and been used for all sorts. Kids dining table, craft table, christmas tree table, coffe table. DD now has it in her room for her CD player and stuff to sit on. Chairs are very sturdy too.

Someone on ebay is trying to sell it for 34.99

We bought lovely round wooden table which came with 3 chairs and a stool (for bigger grown-up bottoms!) from Mini Marvellous (part of Blooming Marvellous). Wooden, flat pack, very sturdy, REALLY like them. Spent ages looking for the right thing. Now, don't choke, did cost £100, BUT waited until after last Christmas and dds had been sent money by a few relatives so used that towards it and convinced myself I'd get the rest back on resale when they've outgrown it. However, love it so much will persuade dh that we should put it in the loft for grandchildren one day. oh, and by the way, we often use all 5 items as coffee tables when we have family get-togethers.

We have the Svala ones Tommy linked to too. Painted pale pink, they are really pretty. Have also just bought the round Mammut table from Ikea but it has half the pieces missing so can't assemble it

The ones Hegland described are by Svan and are now reduced to £75 at Mothercare, sorry would post a link but am rubbish at them! Not in stock at the mo, I ummed and ahhed about the price but decided to go for it as I have a DD who is 19 months and next baby due in Feb so will prob get use out of it.

RuthT · 06/12/2006 19:52

Ah yes the Svan ones are the only ones I have found so far that I like but they are plain. 75 quid is not bad for four chairs and a table. Looked at the Ikea ones but there is no piccy

Can't get a good link for Sia but they are just a company that produce a kids range from photo frames to book ends to tables and chairs. They are painted really cute.
