Stair gate which you can fit to round-shaped bannister posts

My mum needs to get a set of stairgates for the stairs in their new house, but the poles to which you fix them are round. Her existing screw in ones from Mothercare may therefore not work.

Can anyone recommend a solution? All the grandchildren visit very regularly, so she needs to get ones that can be fixed permanently (not the travel ones that don't open).

Thanks!

Kiddyguard do a roller blind one with fixings for round bannisters - expensive tho' @ £50 odd. HTH

We went for the unaesthetic option of screwing a straight rod to the side of the posts, and then screwing in the stairgate - not the prettiest way, but in fact not that noticeable

You can get the kiddyguard a bit cheaper on ebay (but most are used or as good as new).

Otherwise can you put one across the bedroom door or get a Babydan den which can go into several different shapes to form a gate?
