I am no expert. I've only just passed my test in fact. But I don't want to be taken for a mug either.

I would have expected an '06 Polo to have done more than 43k miles. I've nothing else to go by, but doesn't the steering wheel look a bit shiny and worn for such a relatively low mileage?

here it is

If this car is actually a good 'un then it'd be perfect for me. I'm going to view tomorrow. What could I be looking for?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

My 56 Polo has done 100k miles and is worth £1.5k, if that helps.

Sounds too expensive. Particularly if it's a diesel Sad

I'm not an expert either...but autotrader has similar aged, similar mileage ones for about 1k less.

GrandHighWitch · 26/09/2015 16:40

Seems a little pricey for the age/mileage - especially as it is a petrol. If you look on auto-trader they have a really good guide for buying cars - all the little things you can do to check the car over when buying. What to look for and what to avoid. Auto-trader also has a good benchmark price guide.
If you do go for it, then insist on full mot & service, plus new tyres for that price. "Good condition" could mean anything an tyres are not cheap!

that Autotrader checklist is really good, thanks GHW.

I shall have to adopt an air of seasoned mechanic when in fact the first time I opened a bonnet was the 'show me tell me' part of my test last week Grin
