I rang ntl customer service today and told them if I moved to AOL they'd give me a free wireless router. They put me through to their "retentions" dept (only available 9.00am - 5.00pm) and told them the same and they agreed to credit my NTL account with £50, the cost of a wireless router. In actual fact I was able to buy a suitable router from their website for £37 inc delivery so I've made £13 on the deal! Just thought I should share

Good for you - we have NTL but when there is problem their customer service is AWFUL!

you certainly have to prepare for a long wait whenever you call them - but I really can't be bothered to go elsewhere - we get tv, phone and broadband from them and have no BT line so it's pretty tricky to change anyway (but sshhh don't tell ntl that!)

I just rang NTL to say I was going to cancel due to crap customer service... they have given me 40 quid of this months bill plus 15 of the next 3 months irrespective of if I cancel or not -- you need to call disconnections I find to get the best service!
