Ball compression by bugaboo bee

So anyone else have a bugaboo bee and have their little boys balls squished by the short crotch strap? It's driving me insane, he's 14 months and I don't think he has a large manhood but I can't do the bugger up without a proper squash. I wrote to bugaboo (worst customer service ever) and was told that yes the straps were replaced on some models as they are too short and to buy a replacement strap. I did the difference is tiny again we went out in the buggy with him pulling at his trouser area and screaming at me. What to do? Bugaboo have created a baby ball compression unit and don't care! Buying a new buggy seems overkill and DH would probably be quite annoyed after the fuss I made about having a new buggy for 2nd child (first buggy did fall apart though) . I can't be the only one? Maybe it's a buggy for girls with slim thighs? And if my mum tells me one more time that 'this is the problem with all these fancy new prams, we didn't have this problem in the 70's' you may hear me scream!

The strap on the bee is dreadfully short. I have no idea what they were thinking - style over function perhaps?

Not sure what to suggest. My son was quickly too tall for the Bee anyway so we stopped using it. The foot/ leg rest is pitiful too, his legs always just fell off the sides when he went to sleep.
