Fiesta won't start

Hi
Wonder if anyone can help
When I tried to stArt the car it turns over once or twice very sluggish I then hear a series of clicks and then nothing
Dh has tried to start it using battery leads connected to another car. Same thing happened. He rhen put a meter on battery which reads 11.7 volts.

Does anyone know if it's the battery or starter motor which has gone

Sounds like the starter solenoid is not kicking in

11.7V for the battery is Ok i.e. 12 Volts

Have assumed you have checked wiring / connections etc
