Scooters for older kids

I'm thinking of getting Ds1 (7) a scooter for Christmas. Any recommendations? - ideally light to carry so I can walk back from school with it after dropping him off. There seems to be quite a variation in price - can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one that will not fall to bits immediately?

Argos is where we got a red one with go faster lights. Still in one piece and dd2 8yrs loves it. £19.99

Only worry is that Ds1 will crash while admiring the lights .
