I am liking those two strap wedgies, my friend had a red pair on when we went out the other night. I want Would I be able to walk in them though without breaking my neck?

michellefromlakeland · 12/05/2004 11:06

cant see those wedgies

marthamoo · 12/05/2004 11:09

I like Per Una, but not all those straggly, unfinished edge, gathered up, ruched and beribonned things. My GP had on a Per Una skirt with unfinished edges, thready, lengths of ribbony stuff hanging off it the other day and she just looked a bit...well...silly.

marthamoo · 12/05/2004 11:10

wedgies

lazyeye · 12/05/2004 11:10

Their Autograph range of makeup is nice too, but blimey 9 quid for a lipstick is a bit steep for me. I think they might be trying to be all things to all pple and its not quite working.

You need the stomach as well

Looks like my school PE skirt from 1979.

OldieMum · 12/05/2004 16:13

Can I add my tuppenceworth?

Sunday - M&S in Oxford, looking for clothing for dd (16 months) that she needs to be able to wear now, not in the height of summer. I find nothing but day-glo beachwear that a trainee lady-of-the-night would blanche at.

Tuesday - Peter Jones, Sloane Square. Racks of sweet little spring clothes - t-shirts, cardies, dungarees. All reasonably priced (eg £10 for a pair of dungarees) and in gentle colours. I happily fork out 54 quid.

It's not rocket science, is it? So why does Marks get it so wrong?

marthamoo · 12/05/2004 16:14

I still want the shoes....

NancyKominsky · 12/05/2004 16:16

Oh my god, that is such terrible marketing (Per Una Due) when I heard the name and saw the logo (little heart inside big heart) I was convinced it was a maternity range...now that would have been good, why on earth are they going for teenagers - its embarrassing.

michellefromlakeland · 12/05/2004 16:17

peruna is potato in finnish

michellefromlakeland · 12/05/2004 16:19

"PERUNA, the Finnish name for potato, (Solanum tuberosum) comes from the word Peru, the name of the country where it was discovered and from where it made its way to Europe in the end of 1500s. It was called by many names, for instance peru in Finland. "

OldieMum · 12/05/2004 16:25

See this letter about per una due from the Guardian, here

motherinferior · 12/05/2004 16:26

I'm going to admit something. I like some of that tatty Per Una straggly stuff. At its best, PU is a good Jigsaw rip-off, and to someone with my Jigsaw habit that can Only Be A Good Thing.

marthamoo · 12/05/2004 16:31

motherinferior, I must just be old, I think I'm turning into my Mum. She looks at those skirts in Per Una and says, in the most disparaging tones, "needs a hem putting on that." You dangle your straggly bits all you like (ooer!)

Slinky · 12/05/2004 16:38

Seems everyone is busy writing "open letters" to Marks and Spencers

Slinky · 12/05/2004 16:41

have a look atthis

Just noticed at the bottom how to insert a link

lou33 · 12/05/2004 16:42

I still want the shoes too MM.

Crunchie · 12/05/2004 16:55

I had a little flick through the new range, not realising it was for teenagers and even I (who regularly dresses as lamb, rather than Mutton) was slightly gobsmacked. The skirts were soooooo short and beribboned and the tops awful. They were really expensive too.

M&S has lost the plot. Per Una is good and does bring fashion into M&S at a better price than Autograph (so saying I have never bought anything, but been tempted occassionally - I think it is quite expensive too considering I shop in New Look and ASDA) but this is such a step too far

lou33 · 12/05/2004 17:05

Just went to see what you were all talking about. Was a bit disappointed really. I like a couple of the mini skirts, but the punk section could hardly be called that really.
