Has anyone got a Citroen Xsara Picasso? Do you like it?

Our car seems to be at the money pit stage - we've just spent ?240 on it and the problem is still not sorted; it's been in the garage all week and we are car-less. Unless they can fix the problem (something to do with the ABS) it will fail its MOT (January). So we're thinking it's maybe time for a new one...a few people at dh's work have Xsara Picassos and like them but I want to know what Mumsnetters think

Love it. Its great.

3 x 5 point seatbelt in the back. Nice comfy high driving position, decent boot space, lots of storage space in and around the car too.

We're still in limbo with our blardy car atm - the computer/electrics guy is only there on Wednesdays - but yes, we will do that (well, dh will...I don't drive).

Reviews I've read say that the window column is a bit of a pain at junctions as it can cause a blind spot through the passenger window - have you found that? Do you just get used to it?

We bought ours last year and absolutely love it-by far the best car we've had.
Only thing that took a bit of getting use to was the digital dash,but now I quite like it.It's lovely and roomy in the back also which is good and has a few little under floor storage compartments which are also handy.Also like the little fold down trays behind the front seats-will be really handy when Ds is a bit older.

Oooh I like the sound of under floor compartments and fold down trays Dh is all fuel consumption and availability of spare parts and I'm "oooh, fold down trays!"

I dont notice a blind spot, tbh. I guess I must have gotten used to it.

In the boot of the car I currently have 2 strollers, a dolls house in its box and a train set in its box and can happiily fit the weekly shop in it.

When DS was younger I could fit in my stadium duo double pushchair, and a stroller adn the weekly shop - just.

Fuel consumption good - imo.

It has a little setting on one of the sticks whereby you can see how economical it is currently driving out (how many mpgs), how many miles until you need to fill up, an overspeed warning etc. Lovely.

we love ours. agree with everything thats been said - it's very roomy, comfortable and easy to park. another plus is that because the stick shift is not in between the seats the child sitting in the middle of the car can get in and out easily without tripping over. just beware that the spare wheel is on the outside of the car and can easily be knicked. we now keep ours in the boot.

I didn't notice the blind spot either lol

We find it is so roomy. Boot space is fab, and you can get 3 child seats in the back

Is a bit squeaky!! and we have had the digital dash board and the locks fixed a few times

Also , which I really don't like is if the children open the door to get in and only open it a bit its shuts on them. oh and the seat belts don't always spring back, we have shut the car door on them lots

But maybe lots of cars are like that

On the whole we like it

Thanks mapleleaf - yes, I'd read that about the spare wheel on the reviews I've looked at - good idea to keep it in the boot.

What went wrong with your locks? That sounds a bit worrying.

Agree about the spare wheel. Okay if you get teh appropriate fixing to make sure it cant be taken though.

Oh, car buying tip......if you are going to buy new or even 2nd hand from a citroen dealer always go on the last day of the month. They are salesmen at the end of the day, and they will do what they can in order to get last minute sales to bump their stats up. We got an extra £1000 in part exchange for our car when we went - because at last minute we agreed to buy display model. Worth a try.

P.S. we have got a desire version - it has Air con.

oh, havent had that problem with the doors on ours. But, come to think of it - the seatbelt thing happens occasionally on ours.

That's a good tip, VVVQV - we'd have to go on New Year's Eve though as, if our car fails its MOT, we won't be able to drive it anywhere to part exchange

It'll be used, btw - not new. I've looked at Citroen dealers online and there are lots of used ones at dealerships within a 50 mile radius of us. We've never bought a car 'properly' before (the one we have now was my Dad's) - it's a scary prospect.

it just wouldn't lock (central locking)

press the key thing and it locked then you heard it unlock

It did it the other week also but seems to be ok this week!!!!!!1

buy a Citroen Berlingo Multispace instead

they are much much cheaper and have much much more boot space

my mechanic drives one (a diesel one) so they can't be bad

I love mine; I read all the reviews for this kind of car. Tis a beast of a car.

Yes, like VVVQ I love the digital dash and can?t be doping with ?regular? speedos in other cars now.

I also like the high driving position and thought the gearstick (sort of in the dash) would be annoying but in fact it?s in the perfect place.

The kids can all get in from one side and walk through to their seats which wasn't the case with our Corolla so that's another plus (for safety).

Also like VVVQ we currently have our Nipper 3-wheeler, several pairs of walking boots and a spare booster seat in the boot and there?s still room for the weekly shop. It also takes three bikes!
