Best toy kitchen for an 18 month old

bubbaloo · 25/11/2006 17:18

Ds will be 18 months at christmas and I'm looking to buy him a toy kitchen.
I know most are from 3 years, which is fine as he's never really left on his own to play and he loves the one at the toddler group which is for much older children.
There seems to be so many around, but I'm looking for one that doesn't take up too much room and preferably has doors etc..that can be opened and chunky untensils that can't easily be swallowed,if such a thing exists.

Btw,budget is around £30-£40.

Any suggestios,please?

TIA

WE've got the Little Tykes one which is great although the dishwasher door does tend to fall off when someone stans on it...

dd had a Berchet Moulinex one when she was 2, compact and good quality with some noises and dials, but this one is by same company and says suitable from 18 months here . The main thing I'd worry about is the stickers which a toddler would find fun to peel off and any small parts. little Tikes and Step 2 oens tend to be bulkier Otherwise perhaps a wooden one might stand up to some punishment.

oh and the elc one is also made by Berchet and comes with a "free" set of accessories.

LIZS-That one looks really nice.Seems like you get alot for your money too and I suppose with it being from 18 months old,it probably is better as it's chunkier.I shall bear that one in mind, thanks.

check out Ebay. they have two ELC ones at the moment (but not in my area unfortunately as i'm looking for one for 20 month old DD.)

search using 'elc sizzling kitchen' if you want to find them otherwise you'll get tons of other things too

Have you looked at the small wooden one rom elc it's quite small and comes with a lot of little wooden things like food and a couple of saucepans. Dd got one during the summer and loves it.
It's a bit more expensive than your budget but they often have offers on at theis time of year with would help.
