baby/doll for a boy...

ds2 (2.4) has asked for a 'baby' - he watches a lot of advertising.
i want to get him one as much to wind up dp as to find out what he does with it (i think i will see lots of telling role play with it, revealing his current true feelings about ds3)

any ideas where i can get one that isnt so extremely pukily sickly pink all over?? ( i wouldnt do that pink shite to a daughter either in case you think im being homophobic or gender typecasting something...)

I got one from Toysrus that was in a blue suit. But ds2 asked for Baby Annabel last year so we now have blue and pink.

EL:C do little baby dolls for £8, some are in blue suits.

thanks !

i want your basic baby i think... they all seem to poo and wake up in the middle of the night and have other such horrific realistic details...
what does baby annabel do?

(im not remotely girly, or wasnt as a girl, so i know nothing about dolls, me.)

little luke from ELC is gorgeous and DD loves him. his outfits are blue.

ds has a miss hooley doll that he gives cups of tea to. try ebay

NappiesGaloreQueenofFaffing · 25/11/2006 12:44

i think little luke is the one.

i had a look on ebay but got sidetracked by freakishly realistic baby dolls... some nutcase spends hours painstakingly adapting dolls to look so real its spooky... odd.

thanks for your tips!

(hijack my own thread)misdee, how are you and family today?

I found one for DS1 in an independent toy shop - dressed in blue and orange. He still plays with it now at nearly 5 - it has the starring role in his nativity play...

When I asked about dolls for boys in The Entertainer, the "assistant" (I use that term loosely!) said "Why do you want a doll for a boy?"

duh

NappiesGaloreQueenofFaffing · 28/11/2006 00:31

hmmm. dp is not overly keen tbh.

i just smile sweetly and ask what he thinks will happen.

no sensible answer to that, is there?

Bluntly, a boy is more likely to be gay if he is denied the chance to play with a baby just like daddies do. He will think he isn't allowed to be a daddy, therefore he mustn't go near girls.

Or some such BS suitable to feed anyone daft enough to object to a boy having a doll.

NappiesGaloreQueenofFaffing · 28/11/2006 08:41

quite, colditz.

its been ordered anyway.
