Best wrap/sling/carrier for newborn?

I'm looking for a new wrap or sling for baby no.2, due March. I had a Bjorn Active one for DD, which I hated.

I'll be wrestling with a 2.9yr old so it will need to feel secure, and this baby is likely to be as big as DD, ie 10lbs+

I have an Ergo with newborn insert but don't really like the look of the insert (love the Ergo for when they're older though )

Would a stretchy wrap be best? eg Kari-me, Moby, Hug-a-bub, Tricotti? Anyone have any experience of any of these? Are they all pretty much the same (I know the Tricotti is slightly different)?

I also have a cotton ring sling from the States, never used but can't see that feeling as secure?

Or would a normal wrap be better as I could then carry DD with it instead if necessary?

Thanks in anticipation

I have a hugabub and love it to bits - again been wrestling a 3 yr old whilst wearing it

haven't got an answer for you but would like to see what people say as in exactly the same position as you. Will have toddler and small baby and need to get secure sling. Have just bought a sling easy (recommended on this site), friend is ledning me her Kari Me and also have normal mothercare carrier thingy, but would love to hear recommendations too............

FD - thanks for the recommendation, do you know if the hug-a-bub is similar to the Kari-me? (as the latter is cheaper lol)

The Kari-me is has no pocket and tapers at the ends for less bulky knots, but apart from that looks pretty much identical - IIRC the Moby Wrap is the cheapest of the stretchy wrap slings.

It sounds pretty similar to the hugabub - I only got the hugabub because I got a good deal on ebay

I LOVE the Better Baby Sling
It is a cotton ring sling and it works really well. It is easy to adjust and doesn't slip out of position because of the grooved ring. Super comfy for baby and mum and really great for discreet bf.

Google Coories. Idiot proof and absolutely fabulous. Much better than the better baby sling

And if you can sew with a machine you can make one yourself.

Thanks all.

The Better Baby sling looks similar to the ring sling I have, might have a practice with one of DD's dolls

I do like the look (and price) of the Coorie, and I'm good at sewing so could try making one if I knew the dimensions?! Do they feel secure tho' if you're running round after a toddler? And can baby be held quite upright? (DD's favourite position as a baby, hence think Kari-me type could be best??)
