Washer Dryers

Have no room for two separate machines but SO miss my dryer for things like knickers and towels. Read a report in Metro yesterday that said they break down more than any other household appliance and I have heard grumbles about only being able to dry very small amounts at a time. Any advice out there please? To buy or not to buy?
TIA

dizzy, I have had two and they have been utter CRAP. Broken down numerous times....last time it was the heating element and it cost over £100 to repair, lasted about 2 weeks and is now bust.

I also found that I could only dry a few items at once and it takes ages so it buggers up the amount of washing you can do in a day etc...

don't go there! I am honestly happier with washing draping my radiators, combining this with obsessing about whether the current sunny spell will last for enough minutes to hang a load out or not

Oh no! Can I ask what make Sunny?

We got ours (a Zannussi) as a wedding present 6 1/2 years ago and it has been absolutely fine, no repairs at all. You can't dry as much as ina conventional dryer and obviously when you are using it asa dryer youcan't do a ladof washing, but overall if you don't have spacefor both it is the next best thing.

comeO all I have to say is

These bleedin' machines have got something against me personally then...

Mine have both been Zanussi!

fannyannie · 21/11/2006 13:57

we had a Servis washer/dryer for over 5yrs - no problems at all (replaced as I wanted a newer fancier machine )

ComeOVeneer · 21/11/2006 13:58

Guess I have been lucky then, and believe me it gets used a lot.

sunnysideup · 21/11/2006 13:58

grrrrrr

someone, get me my pills......

dizzydo · 21/11/2006 14:16

To be honest Comeoveneer, I only do two washes a day usually, one before I got out to work and the other one I put on before bed so it wouldnt bother me that the machine is held up whilst its drying as well. Am more concerned with reliability, effectiveness and efficiency to be honest. Poor Sunny, think I will deffo get a warranty if I do decide on one

Keep em coming please.

well, you THINK you are outwitting the swines, getting a warranty, but they LIE IN WAIT and they SENSE when the warranty runs out, and then they break down!!!!!!!!!

dizzydo · 21/11/2006 14:26

Have you considered counselling Sunny?

I keep asking for that Dizzy but the doctors here say not until the anti-psychotic drugs kick in
