I'd like to find a nice one for a child that can be mains-powered (hate batteries!!!!!)
One that makes reasonably convincing musical instrument sounds.
I did see one in ELC last year that had a small LCD screen with a stave - the notes appeared on the stave when played which I thought was a good idea but the whole thing looked very flimsy.

I got DD the pink ELC one with stool and microphone for Christmas last year. It is FABBY ! We've had loads of use out of it and the batteries haven't needed changing once . Even 13yo DS2 can sit on the stool and play the keyboard so it's actually really sturdy.

DD also uses the stool as a step so she can brush her teeth at the sink so it is multi-functional.

We got this one for DS it is deffo brill

But get a stand that is screwed into the base then it is secure RATHER than the one from argos cos that is hopeless

NDP, appearances are obviously deceptive
RTKM, thatlooks great but omg it is expensive!

Dd had the ELC one 2 years ago, batteries still going strong. It has faded in the sun as it is kept in a conservatory and the blinking demo tunes will drive you potty but dd and ds love it.

TooTickyDoves · 19/11/2006 22:47

Oh yes, demo tunes are hell, aren't they? Hmm, we'd have to disable that bit

smash hits keyboard????is reduced in woolies to £29.99..........we have been looking around for something for dd(she really liked one in toysrus that had tunes on it and the keys lit up)but really don't want to be spending an excessive amount if she doesn't want to continue.have already found out that keyboard lessons are available at school next year if needed(pay extra and have lesson during lunch period)
