Options for kitchen flooring

Main entrance into house is through kitchen door. Kitchen units are mid to dark brown with possibly a black granite worksurface.

What kind of flooring can I get that will be scuff resistant and will take a good scrubbing as it will get filthy. Also - light or dark coloured?

a ceramic tile easiest to clean and get it plain.

are the walls pale? go dark on floor
walls dark - lighten up with a paler floor
i have slate - dementing
limestone too expensive.

have you thought about a rubber floor? we had the dimpled dalsouple floor - it's (mostly) a commercial product but is v v hardwearing and easy to clean, comes in loads of colours - we have a slate gray shade with white units and dark brown oak effect laminate counters - tis v nice!
