What to consider when purchasing electric vehicle?

Hello!
I am a Master’s student in Reading University and pure battery electric vehicles is my dissertation topic.
I was investigating what keeps people away from purchasing EVs and how to help this environmentally-friendly innovative car find more owners, how to make EVs more appealing. Also, I realize that the trends for EVs are constantly changing together with people’s perceptions of this new technology.
Dear forum members, could you advice what factors in your opinion are the most important when considering an EV-purchase?
Also, as I have found out from literature that the perceptions of EVs depend on personality of the buyer, so I have made a short questionnaire –you might find it a bit unusual – to ask what different people think about EVs. I would be very grateful to all members of this forum who agrees to share a few minutes of your time and be volunteers for my dissertation survey: www.surveymonkey.com/s/LZW3N3W
This is not a commercial project and I will not have any personal gains, just your highly valuable advice for my dissertation.
I thank in advance everyone who helps me out with my project!

Answered it!

But: do you have permission from mumsnet to post this? Have you talked to/considered the ethics of researching on people? (which is what setting up a survey is)- I'd hate to see you get into trouble for this!

Mondeo a luxury car? You must have had a really tough upbringing.

Thank you for your message and filling in the survey!
In terms of ethics, this survey was checked against any sensitive questions, it is absolutely voluntary and participants are free to withdraw at any point. Also, participants are not asked for personal details, therefore, their answers are anonymous and will be destroyed after the dissertation is submitted.
Regarding the terms and conditions – I have read the policy and it did not require the permission to post, as well this is not a commercial project – it is for my studies only. I am just asking for help with my dissertation from people who do not mind sharing 10 minutes of their time. In addition, I thought electric vehicles would be an interesting topic to discuss in forum, because ladies usually are more inclined to buy environmentally-friendly products.

WMittens, thank you for filling in the survey.
Please, note that the pictures you see in the survey are for illustrative purposes only.

Well we're certainly not all ladies and for me, environmental impact doesn't even factor in the purchase of a car for me. I want a large petrol engine and high performance. Fuck the environment!

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. I am an EV owner. If I can be of any help send me a pm

EVs are a stop gap technology and not fit for most people's purposes.

The performance and range are far too underpar to satisfy most drivers needs.

Either battery technology will have to progress massively (third the cost of the car and last about four years tops btw) or a better hybrid approach is required.

A ask the same question in ten to fifteen years time.
