Where can I buy "big" pants for my 5 year old DD?

As all the ones I have been buying recently seem to sit barely above her pubic bone and as well as being very unsuitable for a 5 year old, she also says they are uncomfortable.

I'm having to buy age 7-8 because she is very tall but surely this age group still want proper pants and not skimpy little hipster things?

I want some nice winter ones that come up to her belly button .

This is going to sound a bit naff, but the best ones I've found for my 5 year old dd (who's also in age 8 clothes) are from the Pound Shop - three pairs for a pound. They're nothing special to look at - pink, purple or white with a pattern of squares on and a little bow at the front - but they fit a snip (come right up to her waist), wash well, and dd finds them more comfortable than any I've bought elsewhere.

THanks WWB, I'll try there, sounds just like what she needs.

The best I found for my dd came from Ethel Austen - also dead cheap (I think 49p a pair) and still going strong after over 1 year!! (THink tehy may be the same kind - small blue or red check with a little bow on the front!!)
