Christmas present ideas for a nearly 2 year old ds?

I need to give some ideas to my dp's side of the family as to what to get for my ds. He has little people sets etc but I am really looking for ideas (not just imaginative play) but interactive ... he has had a vtech ferris wheel ball game for 6 months or so which he loved but is probably getting a bit bored of. He is ball mad and wondered whether anyone knew of anything similar but maybe a bit more advanced. I saw this (sorry, I cant do links) www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/BruHome/BruBabyToys/BruBabyToysPreSchool/BruBabyToysPreschoolConstruction/273171?ref=Search ..... but its 3+. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks.

looks good. I wouldn't worry about the age 3 lark as my dd was always playing with older toys - older bruv! Just be careful if it has small balls or marbles as they could choke. My 2 LOVED the Discovery tree - you can get it in Toys R Us too. they played with it for yearsa nd all their friends loved it too.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the 3+ thing tbh - there is hardly anything for 2+, and they can't really be expected to play with baby toys until they're 3. I'm told by someone in the industry that this is because it is really expensive to get something approved for under 3s, so for a lot of smaller manufacturers it isn't worth it.

I'd look at something like wooden railways - mine was certainly playing with that beffore he was 2, and you'll get several years use out of it/can add to it later.

Our 18 month DS is obsessed with balls and ADORES, it's at a friend's house and we've just tracked it down. \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&searchTerms=Ball+popper&go.x=5&go.y=7} If the links don't work try "busy ball popper" at Argos website.

Was also tempted by this \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&searchTerms=ball+blast&go.x=12&go.y=11} Again if link doesn't work try ball blast at Argos.

Good luck!
